How the currency converter works
Convert amounts transparently and interpret the rate date correctly.
From amount to equivalent value
The source amount is multiplied by the exchange rate. We use the reciprocal for the reverse direction. Two other currencies are compared through the ratio of their euro reference values. If the currencies are identical, the amount stays unchanged.
The rate date matters
Reference rates are not trading prices updated every second. The observation day appears beside the result. If the two observations used have different dates, both are shown. A fresh request does not automatically mean a newer rate.
Historical conversion
Historical cross rates use observations from the same day. The historical converter looks for the latest shared observation on your requested date or up to 14 calendar days earlier. The chart connects available daily values without adding invented observations.
Rounding and fees
The calculation uses the available unrounded values. Rates are displayed with up to six decimal places and monetary amounts with the usual decimal places for the target currency. Individual fees, taxes and bank markups are excluded. The equivalent amount is not a binding exchange offer.
When no data are available
After a successful request, your browser stores current rate data locally. If a later request fails, these may be displayed with their original date and a warning. Without valid data, no equivalent is calculated between different currencies. Historical requests report missing data separately.
